Tips for practice:
*Ask your child to write the spelling words correctly on a piece of paper. Write them 5 times in a different color each time.
*Write the spelling words on separate cards or pieces of paper. Show your child one card at a time for about five seconds. Put the card out of sight. Have your child say the word and then write it on paper. Show your child the card again so that he or she can compare spellings.
*Memory game: make pairs of word cards. Flip them over and try to match the pairs.
*Type spelling words 10 times using different fonts.
*Say the word, spell the word, write the word, cover the word and write it again.
*Hop on one foot as you spell the words. Bounce a ball as you spell. Keep a balloon in the air as you spell.....
*Use play dough, paint, pipe cleaners, yarn, etc... to form letters to make words.
